Wave Basics

The Wave Basics Concept Builder provides an introduction to the topic of waves, focusing on the nature of a wave, the categories of waves, and the anatomy of a wave. There are three activities included in this Concept Builder. The first activity - Two Truths and a Lie - provides the learner with three statements about waves; two are true and one is false. The learner must identify the false statement. In the second activity - Matching Pairs - learners are presented with eight terms or phrases. They must match the terms according to their meaning. In the third activity - Wave Anatomy - learners must identify a wave crest, a wave trough, a rarefaction, a compression, the wavelength, and the amplitude. Question-specific help is provided for each of the 10 situations. Use of this Concept Builder with our Task Tracker system allows teachers to track student progress.
