ProjectileSim by KirbyX
The ProjectileSim by KirbyX Interactive provides the learner with a user-friendly, virtual environment for exploring a variety of principles associated with projectile motion. Learners can modify a variety of input parameters - launch speed, the launch angle and velocity components, the value of g, and the
terrain surrounding the launch location. Display options include velocity and acceleration vector components, a ruler along the x- and y-axis, time, the maximum height, and plots of position, velocity, acceleration, and energies as a function of time. The effect of changes in the input parameters upon a variety of projectile characteristics such as the trajectory, the range, and maximum height, and the time of flight can be easily observed.
Users are encouraged to open the Interactive and explore. The Physics Classroom has not yet prepared any pre-made student activities or Concept Checkers for this simulation. We hope to consider such additions in the near future.
Instructors may also be interested in viewing the accompanying Notes page. Technical information, teaching suggestions, and related resources that complement this Interactive are provided on the Notes page. View Notes.
We owe a special thanks to Physics teacher Martin Kirby for contributing the ProjectileSim to our Interactives collection. Martin has contributed many other simulations to our Interactives collection. You can view them all by visiting our page listing all Martin Kirby Simulations.
